How to find the best Hotels

We always compare the rates on different booking platforms, such as booking.com, Hostelworld, or Agoda. The most valuable tip for finding hotels is to always compare the different booking platforms as the prices vary. Depending on the hotel it can also make sense to reach out via WhatsApp and get a deal directly with them. The links on this page are affiliated links, meaning we earn a small commission which helps us to run this page. So in case you want to support us: we would be very happy if you use the links to book your stay as it won’t be more expensive for you!

When choosing a hotel, several factors should be taken into consideration to ensure a seamless and enjoyable stay. When it comes to our hotel tips, we selected these 7 best hotels because of their uniqueness and our excellent experiences.

Have you ever wanted to stay on a remote island with countless palm trees and crystal-clear blue waters? Be sure to check out Le Pirate Island in the Komodo region of Indonesia. They serve delicious food and activities like snorkeling and kayaking are included so we think the pricing is very reasonable. We paid 60€ for the hut in the picture with a shared bathroom and all meals. The weather was perfect and the staff was lovely so we had wonderful 2 nights there.

This one was a easy one to put on our best hotels list, because it’s such a bucketlist thing to do. You have never heard about the Komodo National Park? Check out our article here, for an unforgettable adventure.

Siglo Hotel

The wonderful Siglo Hotel is located on one of the most northern fjords in Iceland, just below the polar circle. If you are lucky, you can experience the northern lights in this area from October to March. Siglufjörður is a charming town with small coffee shops and restaurants.

We loved the coziness of the rooms, the hot pool right next to the fjord, the sauna, and the included breakfast buffet. It’s a bit of a detour when driving from Akureyri back to the South but it’s so worth it. We only had one night, as we were on a short schedule, but we would definitely stay there again. Have you ever wondered what the end of the world might look like? Well, Patagonia is located on the southern tip of Argentina and it’s famous for its beautiful landscapes and hiking routes.

When visiting Patagonia, a stop in El Chalten is a must-do. The best hotel tip we can give you for this area is Solo Lofts. They just opened in March 2021 and will offer you the perfect place to relax in the style of a townhouse apartment. Breakfast will be included for you to prepare in the small kitchen. When you book here, you will wake up with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains from your bed. We stayed for 4 nights and would definitely do it again. Wanna know what else to do in Patagonia? A hotel room for 1.000$? You might think that we’re out of our minds. But Uga Chena Huts right next to the Yala National Park on the South-Eastern coast of Sri Lanka is worth every penny. You will be surrounded by wild animals like monkeys and elephants and it is located directly on the ocean. All the huts come with a private pool, a terrace, a big bathtub, and all-inclusive food which is on Michelin star level when you ask us.

There are also 2 safaris included per night to see elephants, leopards, crocodiles and other animals. The rooms are cleaned every morning and evening, the mini bar is refilled and even laundry is included. You will not have to worry about anything once you arrive here – it’s just a dream and definitely one of the best hotels we ever stayed in!

When traveling to Bali, you may have already seen this famous pool. There are actually two infinity pools and they are part of the Munduk Moding Plantation. Staying here is more than just enjoying this fancy pool. It is a whole experience. They offer tons of free activities around the whole day (yoga, coffee plantation, cooking class, etc.), the staff is lovely and the food is delicious!

The area around Munduk doesn’t seem to be actually in Bali, maybe because of the cooler temperatures. The landscape is different with its green hills and we recommend everyone to come here as you will find another world up here. Munduk is also home to amazing waterfalls, so check out our 15 favorite waterfalls in Bali

Pai, 3 hours west of Chiang Mai, is still a sleepy town that is famous for its green surroundings. Pai Village Boutique Resort is an award-winning hotel that offers beautiful cabins for a good price. We had the comfiest bed during our one-month trip through Thailand. There’s a big breakfast buffet with freshly baked bread every day and at night you can get delicious steak at the restaurant. The pool is perfect to cool off.

Located in the heart of the Chow Kit district in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, The Chow Kit offers quiet rooms in the middle of the city. We had a corner room facing the KL Tower and the metro line, giving us New York vibes. The beds are big and comfy, and we loved the beautiful details of the rooms, like the golden water tap.

The food at the restaurant is simply delicious and we would definitely come back here. Try the famous fish and chips and the french toast for breakfast. The latest is included in the room price and we think the prices are very reasonable for what you get. If the Chow Kit is over your budget, try the little sister next door called Momo’s.
