Traveling to Greece is an exciting and memorable experience that every traveler should have on their bucket list. From the stunning beaches, ancient ruins, and mouthwatering cuisine, Greece has something to offer for everyone. Mykonos and Santorini have become extremely popular tourist destinations, attracting millions of visitors every year. But, if you are looking for a less crowded and more authentic Greek island experience, then Paros might be the place for you. Paros, one of the lesser-known islands in the Cyclades, is a hidden gem in the Aegean Sea. With its picturesque villages, beautiful beaches, and delicious cuisine, it is an ideal destination for travelers looking for an authentic Greek experience. Paros also is a popular destination for water sports like windsurfing, kitesurfing, and scuba diving.
At the same time, Paros offers a vibrant nightlife scene, with plenty of bars, clubs, and beach parties, especially in Naoussa and Parikia. But Paros is family-friendly, too, with numerous beaches suitable for children and a welcoming atmosphere.
The best time to visit Paros is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September. This is when the weather is warm and sunny, and all the island’s attractions and amenities are fully operational. The peak season falls between July and August, making it a great time for beachgoers and those who want to experience the lively atmosphere. Keep in mind that July and August are the hottest and most expensive months of the year to travel to Paros. We’ve been there at the beginning of June and can recommend it. The weather was perfect and it wasn’t as crowded and hot as in July or August.
2. How to get to Paros
Paros has its own airport, which receives flights from Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) with Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines. The flight takes about 45 minutes, and there are several flights daily.
Paros is also easily accessible by ferry from Athens and other nearby islands. As we were traveling with our camper, we took the car ferry from Piraeus near Athens. Ferries depart from Piraeus port in Athens and Rafina port in Attica, with several daily departures during the summer months. The ferry ride takes between 3-5 hours, depending on the type of ferry you take. You can also take a ferry from other popular destinations such as Mykonos and Santorini or Naxos.
Once you arrive in Paros, you can rent a car or motorbike to explore the island at your own pace. Alternatively, you can use the local bus service or take a taxi to get around.
We don’t have any hotel recommendations (where we’ve stayed) for Paros as we stayed in our camper van for the whole time. But regarding our research, we would recommend Londos Hotel (nicely designed bright rooms), Paros Bay (awesome pool right at the beach), or KOKOON (beautiful hotel in the bay of Parikia). We always try to book hotels with an average of over 8,0 on booking.com and check the newest reviews.
3. Beautiful Villages
Parikia, the capital of Paros, is a charming village with traditional Cycladic architecture. The village has many beautiful narrow streets and alleys that are perfect for wandering around and exploring. The famous Panagia Ekatontapiliani church, also known as the Church of 100 Doors, is a must-see attraction in Parikia.
Naoussa is a picturesque fishing village located in the northern part of Paros. With its beautiful harbor, traditional houses, and narrow streets, Naoussa is a charming place to visit. The village has many restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine and drinks.
Lefkes is a beautiful mountain village located in the center of Paros. The village is known for its traditional architecture, winding streets, and beautiful views of the island. Lefkes is a perfect place to explore on foot, and there are many hiking trails that offer stunning views of the island.

Golden Beach is a beautiful sandy beach located on the southeastern coast of Paros. The beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and is a popular spot for windsurfing and other water sports.
Kolymbithres is a unique beach located in the northern part of Paros. The beach is surrounded by granite rock formations, and the crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Piso Livadi is a small fishing village located on the southeastern coast of Paros. The village has a small sandy beach where you can enjoy swimming and sunbathing. Piso Livadi is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Paros.

It doesn’t have an international airport, so you have to take a ferry which is also a reason for this!
Paros is generally more affordable than Mykonos and Santorini. Accommodation, food, and drinks are generally cheaper on Paros, making it a great option for travelers on a budget.
